How do I register my nickname?
Registering your nickname on the IRCNode network is very easy and simple; simply type:/msg NickServ register your-password-here your-email-here
(NOTE: replace your-password-here with a secure password of your choice).
Why should I register my nickname, what are the benefits?
Registering protects your nickname from being stolen by other users. It gives you access to all the features that our network has. It lets you register a vhost, register your very own channel and a whole lot more.
How do I stop people from using my nickname?
In order to fully stop people from using your nickname, you must enable a feature called "enforce". Enforce is a feature that will automatically change the nick of a user who tries to use a registered nickname without authenticating, within a specified amount of time. You can enable enforce by doing the following:/msg NickServ set enforce on
/msg NickServ set enforcetime 30
Enforcetime is expressed in seconds, and can be set anywhere from 1-180 seconds, or as default (simply by replacing "30" in the example with "default").
Enforce will also temporarily block the use of your nickname if someone attempts to use it without authenticating in time. If you encounter this at any point in time, you must release this block on your own by doing the following:/msg NickServ release your-nick your-password
If you suspect abuse, please feel free to contact network staff.
What's a vHost? and How do I request one?
vHosts are fake or "spoofed" hosts to stop people from easily obtaining your real hostname and/or ip address. You can request a custom vHost by typing:/msg HostServ request your.vhost.here
Please note that it can take up to 24 hours before your vHost is approved and is subject to the discretion of the network staff.
How do I register a channel?
Registering a channel is very simple and can be done by typing: /msg ChanServ register #channelname
Why should I register my channel?
Registering your channel helps protect it from being taken over by other users. It also gives you a lot of features that your channel would not ordinarily have.
When I registered my channel, ChanServ did not join. Why?
ChanServ has been set to not join a channel when registered as most channel owners prefer not to have it visible. If you would like ChanServ visible in your channel, simply type: /msg ChanServ set #your-channel guard on
What other network services bots do you have?
IRCNode has the following network services available to all users: NickServ, ChanServ and HostServ
How do I change my nickname and join channels?
